EEP Africa Provides USD 1.12 Million to Solarise
EEP Africa is providing a USD 1 million (EUR 1 million) financing package for Solarise Africa to expand commercial renewable deployments into Uganda and Zambia. Solarise Africa will add USD 1 million (EUR 1 million) in co-financing, bringing the total package to USD 2 million (EUR 2 million). The funding supports a 24-month programme to establish local operations and deploy distributed capacity for commercial and industrial customers.
Solarise Africa, founded in 2018 by Patrik Huber, Jan Albert Valk and Sakkie van Wijk, supplies renewable energy systems and long-term financing to C&I businesses. Under the expansion plan the company aims to deploy 3 MW of renewable capacity, including solar panels and battery storage, across the two markets. The programme is structured to build a commercially sustainable operating base that can underwrite future private investment.
The company expects the deployment to deliver at least 4.5 GWh of renewable generation and avoid roughly 3,600 tonnes of CO2 emissions over the programme horizon. EEP Africas contribution is a grant intended to reduce early-stage market entry costs and support business model validation. Solarise Africa previously raised USD 33.4 million of debt financing in 2022, which the company says will complement the current grant and co-financing during rollout.
For investors, the package signals targeted seed capital aimed at market entry rather than large-scale buildout: the immediate capacity target is 3 MW and the 24-month timeline focuses on establishing local teams and commercial pipelines. If Solarise converts the pilot deployments into repeatable deals, the company may use the programme results to pursue additional private capital in those markets.
