University College Hospital to Benefit from Federal Government Solar Mini-Grid Project
The University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, is set to receive a solar mini-grid under the $66.65 million USD (₦100 billion) National Public Sector Solarisation Initiative. This project, spearheaded by the Federal Government of Nigeria and managed by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), aims to enhance electricity supply, particularly for critical healthcare services.
UCH has faced prolonged power challenges, impacting operations and patient care. The solar mini-grid will ensure a stable and cost-efficient energy supply, reducing reliance on diesel-powered generators and cutting down on operational costs.
The project aligns with Nigeria’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions, ensuring that hospitals and healthcare institutions have uninterrupted access to power for essential medical services.
