Mulilo awarded 240 MW Middlepunt Solar Project in 7th REIPPPP

Mulilo has secured the 240 MW Middlepunt Solar Project as part of South Africa’s 7th Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP). The project will be developed under Mulilo’s integrated business model, with the company overseeing construction, operation, and management.

Mulilo’s CEO, Jan Fourie, emphasized the importance of the project in advancing South Africa’s renewable energy transition. “This latest award showcases our expertise in Solar PV technology and highlights our commitment to supporting South Africa’s sustainable energy future,” said Fourie. “We are proud to contribute to the country’s energy mix and to stabilize the grid through reliable and clean energy generation.”

The Middlepunt Solar Project aligns with Mulilo’s Social Impact strategy, which focuses on sustainable development in the communities where its projects are located. Mulilo’s initiatives aim to exceed the government’s Economic Development obligations, driving meaningful change in local communities through job creation, skills development, and infrastructure investments.

The project also reflects Mulilo’s broader strategy of expanding its solar PV capacity and supporting South Africa’s energy diversification goals. Local partners Reatile Renewables and Perpetua Energy are key stakeholders in the Middlepunt Solar Project.

With the addition of the 240 MW Middlepunt Solar Project, Mulilo continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio, which currently includes 420 MW of operational wind and solar projects and 669 MW under construction, driving South Africa’s transition to a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
