Infinity Power and Pele Green Energy awarded 240 MW Copper Solar 1 Project in 7th REIPPPP
The Copper Solar 1 project is a solar PV project awarded to Infinity Power and Pele Green Energy in South Africa’s REIPPPP seventh round. Located in Limpopo, this 240 MW project is 51% owned by Infinity Power and 49% owned by Pele Green Energy and is a key component of the partnership’s 1.28 GW portfolio awarded under this round.
Copper Solar 1 is designed to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to South Africa’s energy security. Alongside the other awarded projects, it will contribute to the 3.2 million tons of CO2 emissions avoided annually. The plant will also generate jobs for the local community during its construction and operation phases.
Infinity Power’s broader strategy of deploying renewable energy solutions across Africa positions this project as a key step toward achieving 10 GW of renewable capacity by 2030.
