Infinity Power and Pele Green Energy awarded 220 MW Onderstepoort Solar 1 Project in 7th REIPPPP
Infinity Power and Pele Green Energy have secured the 220 MW Onderstepoort Solar 1 project, located in the North West Province, as part of the 1.28 GW portfolio awarded under REIPPPP’s seventh round. The project is 51% owned by Infinity Power and 49% owned by Pele Green Energy, showcasing the partnership’s dedication to expanding South Africa’s renewable energy capacity.
Onderstepoort Solar 1 will avoid a substantial portion of the 3.2 million tons of CO2 emissions projected for the six awarded projects annually. It will also generate economic benefits by creating jobs for local communities during construction and operation.
The project will proceed with construction once agreements with the DMRE and Eskom are finalized. This marks another milestone in Infinity Power’s plan to scale renewable energy solutions across Africa and achieve 10 GW of renewable capacity by 2030.
