Infinity Power and Pele Green Energy awarded 190 MW Onderstepoort Solar 2 Project in 7th REIPPPP
The 190 MW Onderstepoort Solar 2 project, located in the North West Province, is another significant addition to Infinity Power and Pele Green Energy’s portfolio awarded in REIPPPP’s seventh round. The project is 51% owned by Infinity Power and 49% owned by Pele Green Energy and is a key component of their 1.28 GW portfolio.
Onderstepoort Solar 2 will play a vital role in reducing South Africa’s carbon footprint, contributing to the 3.2 million tons of CO2 emissions avoided annually by the six awarded projects. Additionally, the project will create job opportunities for the local community and support economic development.
As with the other awarded projects, construction activities will begin following the finalization of agreements with the DMRE and Eskom. This initiative aligns with Infinity Power’s broader goal of deploying 10 GW of renewable energy across Africa by 2030, positioning South Africa as a central hub for its renewable energy expansion.
